A Book That Creates Safe, Drinkable Water

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon have developed a book that in each of its pages, contain two filters. Each are able to clean 26 gallons of water. The Drinkable Book was created to provide people with reading material while also providing them with a cheap way to filter their water as well.

The way someone uses this book to filter water is simple - you rip out one of the pages, put it over a wooden box and pour the water.

In field tests done by the inventor in South Africa, Ghana, Haiti and Kenya, the paper filtered 99.9% of the filthy water.
